Circa Approx. Late 19th Century. It Has a Lift Out Inner Louis Vuitton Ribbon Style “Basket” That Would Have Been Intended to be Filled With Hats – Shoes Etc. To Provide Protection During Travel. It Comes From the Original “DAMIER” – Checker Style Canvas Period That was First Introduced by Louis Vuitton in 1889. The Original Paper Label on the Interior Indicates Serial Number 138365 and Reads as Follows – PARIS I. RUE SCRIBE – LOUIS VUITTON 149 NEW BOND STREET W. LONDON. It has Steel and Some Cast Iron Exterior Hardware Etc. The Back Plates on the 2 Side Swing Handles are EMBOSSED L.V. Please ALSO NOTE That The Top – Lid and Perimeter Have Numerous SOLID BRASS DOME TOP TACKS – Each One Being EMBOSSED LOUIS VUITTON. It Still Retains its Original Functional Locking Hasp Mechanism but It COMES WITH NO KEY. It is a Great – Versatile Size – Could be Used as a End Table Etc.
