In the 1960’s, Warren Platner transformed steel wire into a sculptural furniture collection, creating what is now considered a design icon of the modern era. He aimed to cater to the desire for a ‘decorative, gentle, graceful kind of design’. ‘Why separate support from the object?’ he wondered, and so, ingeniously created the curving structure of his chairs and their accompanying ottoman using a fan of light, thin steel rods, bypassing the need for separate support. Platner’s training as an architect also fed into the design, as he considered how the chair would look in a space. A true mid century marvel!Measurements:The lounger – 36.5″W x 25.5″D x 30.25″HThe ottoman – 26.75″DIA x 16.9″H less
