Beautifully preserved grain painted trunk in yellow ochre and ox blood red.9” high bracket feet with dovetailed box truck. … more Beautifully preserved grain painted trunk in yellow ochre and ox blood red.9” high bracket feet with dovetailed box truck. 2 board top with a beveled edge fits perfectly. With forged iron lock and hinges attached with rose head nails. This dates the piece to be earlier then 1881. I think this dates it back to 1835 and the painted date was added when passed down to a family member, maybe as a wedding trunk. Bottom of trunk show 1””, 1 1/4” and 1 1/2” thick boards planed with curved blade. The right front foot shows the paint has worn off over the years. Maybe the family dog laid at that end of trunk.No key. Very clean inside with original candle till. Please contact me for better shipping quotes. less
