This is a RARE … more This is an original cover from a French literary magazine, Figaro Illustré, that dates to 1891. This is a RARE find! Magazine cover art is desirable and highly collectible. It has become increasingly more difficult to find in good condition with the passage of time as it is highly susceptible to tears, stains, folds, etc. This image is a beauty. It is a 120+ year old chromolithograph that is in pristine condition. It showcases the joy of sailing, perhaps watching a sailing regatta or simply enjoying sitting on deck! The rich soft color palette of the image depicts the fun at sea. There’s a warmth and painterly quality in the chromolithograph. And note the ribbon Art Nouveau style in the magazine’s name. Chromolithography was the printing technique used at the time. Its clarity has not diminished. 12 x 15.5 inches in size. It is in pristine condition.
